The W1 is not a “500-series interpretation” of a console preamp—it is the console preamp. This is the exact microphone pre from Wolff Audio’s flagship consoles, distilled into a single-channel 500-series module with the same transformer topology, relay-controlled signal path, and gain structure. Its unusually low baseline gain allows you to capture extremely loud sources without pads or compromises, while the dual-stage design gives you the freedom to push the preamp for tone and still hit your converters cleanly.
