Mojave Audio
David Royer started Mojave Audio in 1985 in the garage of his house. The location was Fullerton, California, and Mojave Audio was a one-man, custom pro audio gear shop. David is best known for his ribbon microphone designs with Royer Labs, but he originally started out designing and building vacuum tube microphones, mic preamps and compressors for engineers in the Los Angeles area.
Since the mid 1990s, David’s custom Mojave products have been used on a number of well-known recordings and have achieved legendary status among a small circle of high-end engineers. Mojave Audio Inc. was launched in 2005 to bring David’s condenser mic designs to the world.

Pultec - Pulse Techniques
In early 2000, when first considering a recreation of the Pultec design, Ph.D. Electrical Engineer and Materials Scientist Steve Jackson committed to faithfully recreate Eugene Shenk’s original Pultec with no compromise or “enhancement” of the original design. When it was impossible to source an original component, Steve painstakingly and meticulously conducted electrical, mechanical and chemical characterizations to precisely determine the original component’s specifications to build custom replacements. Thanks in part to numerous conversations with and guidance and encouragement from Eugene Shenk over the 10-year process, Steve finally achieved the goal of faithfully recreating one of the “Holy Grails” of professional recording equipment, the Pulse Techniques (Pultec) EQP-1A3 Program Equalizer.
Steve’s determination and hard work have been rewarded through the acknowledgement by many of the major players in the recording industry that his products are indeed real Pultecs. Steve has continued to expand the product line to include the popular MEQ-5 midrange EQ, the API 2520 line amp versions of the EQP-1A3 and MEQ-5, and a full line of mastering products.
In 2025, Pulse Techniques - Pultec company was aquired by Wolff Audio under the direction of Paul Wolff, one of the rare person Steve Jackson trust to protect Pultec's legacy.

Q2 Audio
The ADR Compex began life as a diode bridge limiter followed by a FET based design that was modified over the years to what we know today as the F760X-RS. ADR had different units that were combined to make the F760X-RS: F700 was the compressor, F600 was their broadcast limiter, the "X" indicated it had the Expander/Gate and "RS" indicated "Rackmount Stereo". So, adding these parts up gave them the F760X-RS. ADR supplied their "Compex" PCB's to other manufacturers such as Helios and Calrec to build into their custom consoles.
