Henry Engineering Patchbox II

Henry Engineering Patchbox II is a "must have" for your gadget bag! It's a splitter that can take the output of a mixer, and split it into 12 different outputs. It's perfect for remotes, when you need to feed a mixer to a PA system, tape decks, studio link, telco coupler, etc. Patchbox II is passive; it needs no batteries or power.

Henry Engineering PatchBox II is a passive output multiplier that can be used to distribute the output of a professional audio mixer to the inputs of peripheral equipment. PatchBox II is ideal for feeding a mixer as output signal into DAT recorders, digital editors, computer sound cards, cassette and reel decks, VCRs, PA systems, dubbing racks, limiters, and other audio equipment. Both professional equipment with balanced inputs and consumer equipment with unbalanced inputs can be used.

Description

PatchBox II is compatible with any active balanced (transformer-less) low impedance signal source that is ground-referenced. (Most professional mixers built since the early 1980's use this topology.)

From a stereo source, PatchBox II creates twelve stereo outputs: six balanced stereo outputs and six unbalanced stereo outputs.

PatchBox II balanced outputs, on XLR and ¼" TRS connectors, provide a "unity gain" signal with a 600 ohm source impedance. PatchBox II unbalanced outputs, on gold-plated RCA connectors, provide a signal that is compatible with the inputs of consumer gear. Because the inputs circuits of audio equipment are normally high-impedance ("bridging"), any combination of outputs can be used simultaneously without interaction or signal degradation.

Henry Engineering U.S.D.A. (Utility Summing & Distribution Amplifier) is a unique 2x4 mini-DA that can be used to combine or split audio signals for distribution. It can be used as a 1x4 or 2x4 DA in stereo or mono.

There are 2 inputs (1 stereo pair) and 4 outputs (2 stereo pairs). Front panel “Stereo/Mono” switches select either a stereo or mono output from each output pair. USDA can produce both stereo and mono outputs simultaneously from a stereo source. Inputs and outputs can be operated either balanced or unbalanced. The audio level of each output can be adjusted over a 26 dB range. All circuitry is transformerless and directcoupled for sonic accuracy.

Henry Engineering AES Digital DA 2X4 is a distribution system for digital audio signals. It can accept either an AES or S/PDIF digital audio stream, and create four identical AES outputs. The AES DA is 100% bit-accurate and transparent to the source, adding absolutely no delay or latency to the signal. The AES input and all four AES outputs are individually transformer balanced and isolated from ground. The S/PDIF input signal is converted to an AES standard level and source impedance. The AES I/O is via XLR connectors; Pin 1 is connected to the AC “safety” ground. The S/PDIF input is via an RCA connector; the shield is isolated from the AC ground. No user adjustments or calibration is necessary.
